The Killarney and District Facility is a 78,000 S.F. multi-purpose recreational facility which includes: a hockey rink, fitness centre, bowling lanes, four curling sheets, a walking/running track, and a community hall. The facility implements LEED design techniques, including a geothermal heating and cooling system in order to maintain low operational costs. Structural systems were selected to provide an economical structure without compromising long-term durability. Systems chosen include a structural steel superstructure, precast hollowcore floors, and cast-in-place concrete spread bore piles.
